just curious what everyones general experience is with registering these helicopters?

let me know your experience

1. were you the original builder?

2. how early did you register it before completion/air worthiness certificate?

3. what influenced your tail number?

4. if purchased how seamless/painful was your bill of sale experience?

i am currently working to register my machine obtained from an estate sale, had prior registration, but no bill of sale from previous registered owner... i had dont an affidavit of ownership with a statement of the history of ownership notarized.

however the FAA responded the previous owner had a letter exclaiming the ship was incompelete and they've interperted that as scrapped/destroyed/unairworthy.

my machine has never hovered.

easily enough they just want proof of its condition with a picture of the completed ship front, side, back. and picture of the S/N "dataplate"

It appears that Rotorway Owner's Group forum has remained offline for more than a week now. I'm not sure what the status of that forum will be in the future as it contains a lot of historical information related to rotorways which help owners to maintain and fly their helicopters.

However, it seems that we're beginning to have a little uptick in activity, likely due to this currently being the only active forum dedicated to Rotorway helicopters. If you've been lurking around for information but have not yet posted or introduced yourself, please consider doing so right away! Conversation is the only thing that makes a forum useful. You can click on the "Portal" button to view the most recent topics to participate in! However, we'll soon be removing the shoutbox and implementing a recent posts portal there, along with a few other updates and bug fixes.

We've also removed all forums related to rotorway experts/content creators since nobody designated ended up utilizing them.

Also please feel free to start filling up the helicopter flights & media forum! Post your youtube links and share, I'm sure a lot of people who are researching rotorways would enjoy seeing them do more than just hover!

Lightspeed Zulu 4 vs 3

So, I've been testing the Zulu 4's out for the past few months and it seems that they have better Bluetooth capabilities and slightly clearer audio quality. However, I can't tell the difference in comfort or ANR between the Zulu 3's, very similar and I wear glasses. The padding material is softer where your frames sit, which is noticeable but I'm not sure if it truly improves noise reduction over the 3's. For music, the Zulu 3's can get much louder which is nice in a helicopter when you're on a long flight in the middle of nowhere while the Zulu 4's don't really get quiet as loud—disappointing! The longer mic boom isn't that great either, it's a little too long so it curls out more but might be good for people with a wider head? I think the Zulu 3's mic boom was just a little short of perfect length.

I have a flight helmet fitted with Bose A20 Bluetooth as well, haven't used it for music though since it's more for work than play, so I haven't compared yet. I've been hearing the A30's are not very good in noisy helicopters.

All this to say, so far, I don't think the Zulu 4's are worth the price difference of Zulu 3's unless you truly need the dual BT connectivity capabilities.

What are your thoughts on the ANR headsets available today and what do you use?

Hi I had a fadec acis running super rich 9-1 and 10-1 fouling plugs, had a chat to a drag racing guy, ours are a memory ecu as they dont take afr readings and respond accordingly , east to tune though, put a mechanical fuel pressure gauge on rail after last filter (electrical pressure gauge are not acurate enough) change the fuel regulator to an adjustable (30-70 psi), fit or use an AFR Air Fuel Ratio gauge, our ecus can run as low as 30-35 psi fuel pressure up to 70 psi , so now tune your engine to 12.5-1 to 13-1 fuel ratio at operating rpm on both pumps, IF YOU ARE UNDER 40 PSI YOUR BASE MEMORY TUNE IS SHIT AND OVER 60 , mine is turbo and am running 46 psi with both pumps on one pump is 43 psi and alters AFR. EASY PEASY

Good afternoon everyone,

I've attempted for a few weeks now to get in contact with the owner of the Rotorway Owner's Group forum (ROG) via email and private message without any success. While it'd be great if we could upload the archives here for a larger source of information available to all users (and the public), it seems unlikely. If anyone is able to get in contact with Ron to see if he'd be willing to let us migrate the archives onto this forum, that'd be great!

Our community is very small in the first place, considering the size of active rotorway people—I think we've done a great job starting out! From here out, I will be posting less as I focus more on my career and studies. Don't worry, I'll be checking in at least daily to fix any reported bugs, help with accounts, implement new features and/or answer any general questions. It's fastest to reach me via PM (private message in User CP) on here directly, rather than the admin@rotorwayforums.com email. In time, I will respond via email as well but it may take longer.
I have considerations for potentially expanding the forum into an experimental helicopter forum which may attract even more activity and talent.. But, that can be something we vote on down the road. Update on ROG archives migration: I did ask the owner of ROG if we can migrate the archives here for free access to everyone, but I have not received a response yet.

It's been brought to my attention that it may be a good idea to create a new forum topic here called "Consumer Reports" where members can create threads and post replies to share their positive or negative experiences with Rotorway-related vendors/businesses and individuals that offer parts, services, training, maintenance, etc... I'll state the obvious here that it is very likely to cause conflict. However, it's also a great way to inform others of experiences (good and bad) that allows for more educated/informed decisions to be made. For example, Yelp or Google reviews help us all determine whether or not to eat at a particular restaurant—it makes clear sense that we should do this here as well.

Anyway, I've created a poll to vote on this here. After one week (or a few days, depending on how the votes swing) I'll revisit this thread and the majority vote wins.

If it gets voted in, here's what the rules/restrictions will be for that forum:

- No editing, deleting replies or threads. If you change your mind, you can clarify with another reply/comment.

- Administrators will be the only ones with access to moderate that forum, moderators will be unable to. Admins will NOT delete any topics or replies unless they're deemed to be a legal issue. If a thread escalates beyond reason requiring moderation, it may be closed for further replies and the offending user(s) will be privately warned.

- Rotorway forums will not be responsible for the information created by users there (as is the rule with the entire forum) and any individuals or businesses who try to demand or request that information be removed will be ignored. Rotorway forums protects and upholds user rights to free speech by not removing or censoring their opinions on this forum.
Hi all, just want to introduce myself to these wonderful new forums, thanks Jared for your work in getting this site together.

I live in Alaska and i believe i may be the only active rotorway participant up here, i've looked at two rotorway 162F's one 1994 in sorry condition with 100 hours on a factory built machine but then long neglected and torn apart in someones back yard (RIP). the second was a 1999 passed between 3 different hands while building it to near completion but never to fruition due to their age/health/no experience flying the helicopters. i ended up purchasing this one.

about myself, i have been a Helicopter Mechanic for the last 10 years working on Astars, Robinsons, Bells 205/212, 206's, MD500's, and BK117's. i even worked on Bell/Boeing MV-22's in the Marines for 5 years and the legendary Falcon 9 Rocket production and launch operation at SpaceX for another 2.5
amongst all of this mechanical experience i have earned my Helicopter CFI flying mostly Robinson R22's and R44's but have had a tough time over the last 3 years getting a full time instructor job here in Alaska. so now i have my hands on a Rotorway Project, yet to be named, yet to be painted. much work to do.

Being in Alaska and not having a proper shop yet(just a two car garage) i do have some challenges to overcome. we have been having weekly windstorms gusting up to 70-80mph in my area. weekly... evey weekend... this has made initial progress slow, but today i have gotten the Mainshaft/rotor mast off to get it nestled inside my garage. have plans to check out all bearings. shafts for pitting, clean up alot of the fiberglass/body work, change every belt.

already have new door material to build up the doors, interior panels, lots of fun work ahead.
