CCW tail rotor pitch horns
#1
Looking for CCW rotation rotorway pitch horns. these were used on the Jet Exec's so not many out there, but figure i'd get a post out there...

Graeme i understand you're looking to get a few sets machined down there in OZ, these are small enough shipping would be doable so i'll be interested in a set if you ever get around to it!

Hi @Lyle Swallows Yes I could supply, although I do not see the interest from the RW community re my tail rotor drive, that surprises me??

I would be interested in a composite set of tail rotor blades when it comes time to change mine out.
Also a set of pitch horns for CCW rotation.
The stock RW tail rotor is 50.250", I would think 52" might be better.
Would that be a delta hinge configuration?
Any pictures available?

I'm very interested but two things make it hard to pull the trigger.  Cost of the upgrade and the shipping.  Also, my mother told me once never buy anything that is version 1.0.  I already have the turbo, so power is not an issue.  Cooling is.  Going to try the electric water pump this fall and see if that helps.  Incremental steps...

@Graeme Smith I'd like to have a reliable shaft-driven TR drive and gearbox system instead of all the belts! However, reliability and cost are big considerations. Your upgrade will have to prove itself over many flight hours (I'd say maybe 2,000 combined hours between a few helicopters) without issue before I would consider the switch. I think about the early turbine conversions with the various drivetrain issues or the heavily-modified rotorways that usually sit on trailers at fly-ins instead of flying.

Until then, I won't consider deviating from the factory design. However, I commend you on working with engineers to improve the design and I hope it's a success!

Hi @Tim Morris THe EWP will not solve your issues with cooling. The entire cooling system needs to be changed, same radiator just a different way to get the air to flow through it, ie outside forward facing scoops feeding into the top of the radiator with an electric  fan on the bottom of the radiator that attaches to a shroud that encompases all of the radiator fins.

The delta design swash plate I have in mind is from the Delta D2 helicopter that I built, my thoughts today, prompted by a post here somewhere, was to offer the shaft drive tail rotor setup with pitch horns that would suit the RW hub and blades. I have not bothered with the Delta swash plate ATM as I accepted it would add a level of cost to the shaft drive.
