  Tuning a 162f engine

Hi I had a fadec acis running super rich 9-1 and 10-1 fouling plugs, had a chat to a drag racing guy, ours are a memory ecu as they dont take afr readings and respond accordingly , east to tune though, put a mechanical fuel pressure gauge on rail after last filter (electrical pressure gauge are not acurate enough) change the fuel regulator to an adjustable (30-70 psi), fit or use an AFR Air Fuel Ratio gauge, our ecus can run as low as 30-35 psi fuel pressure up to 70 psi , so now tune your engine to 12.5-1 to 13-1 fuel ratio at operating rpm on both pumps, IF YOU ARE UNDER 40 PSI YOUR BASE MEMORY TUNE IS SHIT AND OVER 60 , mine is turbo and am running 46 psi with both pumps on one pump is 43 psi and alters AFR. EASY PEASY

I'm old and slow-   And maybe it's just me.  But I struggle looking for the "Rotorway documents" button when I'm looking for something.  And when I do find it, I get irritated with myself as it is Highlighted.   It's just small.   Would you consider moving it up to the row where Search, memberlist and other buttons are.  I think it would stand out there.  Imagine yourself as an old person with tri-focals  moving your head all around.   I know it's difficult trying to get so much information in one space.   Good Luck and I appreciate what you are trying to create.

  Inlet temperatures with a turbo

Any of you guys with turbo ships:  What is the normal inlet air temperature your seeing?   Mine is upwards of 200 after a 15-minute hover.

  Adjustable cooling fan

I have an adjustable cooling fan on my bird.  Don't know who made it.  It's not identified in the logs.  Does anyone else have one?  If so, what AoA do you set the blades to?   I think mine are set too high and the blades are stalling and sending disturbed airflow through the radiator.

  Alternator/charging

Hi All,

what size was the Alternator in the later model Talons/Phoenix A600's?

i have a 37amp Prestolite 8AR2169, i see later 51Amp became the standard?

i would like to eventually do an Electric water pump upgrade aswell as not worry about any charging at Idle or overcapacity issues with lights/avionics including a small electric heater blower fan robbed from an R22.

here are some graphs i've found for the 37Amp and 65amp 8AR series prestolite's

  MicroVib II Help Needed
Posted by: Claude Parent - 02-13-2026, 03:14 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

For those familiar with the MicroVib II balancer system, Please have a look at the screen shot showing a solution for the lateral lead lag adjustment and explain how this solution would be applied. I have an idea of what needs to be done but I would like to confirm with people familiar with this system.

  Ballast Weldment Hole spacing
Posted by: Sam Oliver - 02-12-2026, 01:43 PM - Forum: Maintenance & Troubleshooting (162/A600) - Replies (2)

Any particular engineering reason the hole spacing for the ballast weight mount to the weldment in the tailboom have different edge clearances?

I'm building an A600 from parts gathered hither and yonder.   Most Brand new parts, some previously installed but none ever completed.  This is the case with this mount.   It was previously drilled and the hole placement by the previous person was 5/16 on both edges.   The drawing show a different edge clearance on the forward hole?     I'm thinking a 16th of an inch in this application is not critical as it still falls within normal edge clearance limits.

  ROG Archives

Good afternoon everyone,

I've attempted for a few weeks now to get in contact with the owner of the Rotorway Owner's Group forum (ROG) via email and private message without any success. While it'd be great if we could upload the archives here for a larger source of information available to all users (and the public), it seems unlikely. If anyone is able to get in contact with Ron to see if he'd be willing to let us migrate the archives onto this forum, that'd be great!

  Tail Rotor belt failure
Posted by: Graeme Smith - 02-08-2026, 10:05 PM - Forum: Mechanical Failures and Accidents - Replies (11)

We have had a T/R belt failure just after coming in to land in the hover 2 up confined area, total destruction of the RW.
Just wondering if the Vee belt could be upgraded as there has been a lot of improvements in belt technology.
this came up in a google search as maybe a better belt for our application.optibelt SUPER XE-POWER PROHigh performance wedge belts - raw edge, moulded cogged
