As you can remember or imagine, that first solo flight is intense but this student did a great job.

In this auto we did not get the ground speed totally stopped but with the reinforced extended skids we could have easily slid this one on if we had made ground contact.

180 degree auto to hover in 162f while instructing
Posted by: Orv Neisingh - 08-25-2026, 02:58 PM - Forum: Orv Neisingh - No Replies

In this video we perform a 180 degree auto to hover. Remember that the goal is to have near zero forward speed when you level the helicopter prior to ground contact. I tell myself " Make it stop" as I enter the flair. To date I have been forced to make 19 to the ground autos due to some sort of mechanical failure over 35 years.

Trying to figure out this thing so I can post stuff.

Maybe I didn’t have a title ??? It’s hours later and I’ll try again to post something, I see it does say I need a title. Will add that and see if it will then Post it

Tada! I logged out then came back and it went. Now all I have to do is learn how to post pics and stuff.
Oh, and someone explain the subscribe options to me please.

Ok, I have a question for the group. Have a customer trying to put Saturn packs on his 90 to replace the Electromotive packs it had. Not getting any spark even though it appears to be wired right, from where I sit. I can remember what voltage is coming off the crank sensors. If we hook up a digital meter to the sensor leads and crank it over, what should we see? Al Yard could tell us I’m sure, I’ll have to try and get hold of him.
