Hi @Tim Morris the reason for the fan in the dog box is to evacuate the engine bay heat. The stock RW system draws all the hot engine air and pushes it through the radiator, hence the RW system is trying to cool the engine with hot air.
I initially tried no scoops but found that you do need to capture the air with some sort of scoop if it is just an opening, the outside air flow will pass it by, as the air once past the vertical join in the lower panel to the front panel causes the air to be turbulent an it just passes by the opening
