I got a call from a former student in Branson, MO that he needed me to replace his tail rotor blades and re-balance the TR system. He had landed his Talon in a buddy's yard and a dog ran up to the spinning tail rotor and bit at it. There was a thud as the tail rotor blade hit the dog's nose and the dog then ran off. The next day the dog came home with a gash on his nose but other than that was OK.
The tail rotor blade was dented and snot splatted and the tail rotor pitch pin was bent about .007". I replaced the tail rotor blade and pitch pin, balanced the system and the helicopter was once again airworthy and the dog hopefully learned a lesson.
