Yes, you need a YouTube account in order for it to work. Once you sign in after pressing the button and give the forum permission, it won't be much hassle to upload videos here. Also your videos are privately listed by default, they won't appear on YouTube search results and your login info is not stored anywhere on this website, it's all handled by Google software.
I've programmed this custom feature, many forums do not let you upload videos at all and only accept URL video links. Here, you can do it directly without all the extra steps. Linking your YouTube account is required because it keeps the forum account from getting banned if someone were to upload anything that gets flagged by Google (which then, we could lose all our posted videos). So, it's safer to have individual accounts link to the forum for uploading instead, if that makes sense.
