trying to figure out this site and how to use it
#1
These sites, just like Face Book, are so complex with so many twists and turns the average old guy like me just give up and go away.  I recently finally  got on FB last week and I'm already restricted until November 3rd for some reason . Guess i responded to someone who i shouldn't have.
I put something on about OSH KOSH and it didn't go where it was supposed to and Jared had to fix that, cause i couldn't even find it after i posted !!  It's going to take me a long time to figure out all these buttons and even how to start a new thread. I was so deep in the mud I had to hit the back button 6 times to get back to where it said new thread!!  Everything i hit trying to get here took me off into never never land even further!!
I realize all these bells and whistles are great to have , but , for the new guys they are just obstacles that cause us to quit and go away. Would love to see some of the old guys like Al Yard on here , his expertise in electronics would be invaluable.

My daughter Steph is fighting cancer again, and i'm up here at 03:00 wide awake on this stupid computer . I'm doing what i do best, bitching  about how complex the world is . Never had much patience and getting less of it every day.

And what in blue blazes is this Subscription stuff down here??? i have no idea  which one of those i want. If i was selling something , OF COURSE i'd want to know if someone was trying to reach me. And if you send me a private message , i may nerver look at it. If you want to talk to me, better call me or text me at 937-477-6911 or mail me direct bellairhomer@gmail.com

FB will quickly mute or ban people who use whatever is deemed inappropriate language for a period of time. Maybe that happened to you, lol. You can say anything you want here, barring anything illegal. About the Oshkosh post, certain forums like the events section require administrator approval so that's why it didn't immediately post, but I approved it. Most forum sections do not have this restriction.

The subscription option when creating a new thread is to enable email or private message notifications for that specific thread. So yes, if you post a part or helicopter for sale, I'd subscribe to both email and private message notifications so you don't miss anything. It's disabled by default so people don't get spammed of new replies in their email accounts, which can get annoying fast.

Private messages (PM) have notification systems which you can adjust in User CP -> edit options. And under "Messaging and Notifications" change the subscription drop-down box to "Instant email notification" so you will get an email anytime you receive a PM. They also alert you anytime you login or are browsing the forum, so it's harder to miss any messages.

I'm sure after a month or so of using this platform, you will figure out most of the features. This forum format is over 20 years old and similar to what ROG was, but there are a whole lot more features which can make things difficult to learn at first... Once you figure it out, it's a lot more powerful and secure for sharing pics/videos and messaging than the previous forum. I hope Steph pushes through, cancer is terrible.

If you ever need help with something, feel free to call me.
